Discover the Apennine wolf

The Wolf Visit Center is a property of the Carabinieri Grouping Biodiversity and is located in Popoli (PE). Inserted in the Majella National Park, it is surrounded by a very suggestive landscape and is the best place for an exciting outdoor adventure with your family. The Center promotes knowledge of the wolf and increases the awareness that this species has in nature. This areas acts as temporary recovery centre for injured animals, conducts scientific research and spreads knowledge of the predator even outside protected areas.

Guided tours

Guided tours of Wolf Visit Center are undertaken by a qualified staff, are suitable for adults and children and last about 2 hours. The activity takes place on an easy path and provides an opportunity to learn about the biology, ethology, conservation of wolf and other wild animals present in the area. The guided experience includes:

The Wolf Visit Centre Museum
composed of three rooms which hold an educational exhibition on wolf’s biology and ecology as well as its difficult relationship with human beings, and a room where it is possible to hear animal howlings
The educational tour “From Preys to Predators”.
Along this oudoor tour, it is possible to observe: – Hoofed animals (deers, fallow deers, wild boars, mouflons, roes…) – Predatory birds – Wolves. The wolves area can be reached by a simple walk of about 1 km

We remind you that the guided tour is in Italian. Upon reservation and according to availability of the guide, it is possible to request guided tours in English for groups

Accessibility for people with disabilities

The Visitor Center is accessible to people with disabilities. For people in wheelchairs, the wolf area can be reached by car. We recommend that you call us at least two days in advance for more details and to request access authorization

What to bring and wear

Comfortable clothing for outdoor activities, closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles, water, sun hat and k-way

  • By car: A25 motorway Bussi – Popoli exit

  • Continue in the direction of Popoli

  • Once in Popoli continue in the direction of Sulmona

  • Stay on the state road and at the exit of the village of Popoli, immediately after a sharp bend, take the first road on the left and then follow the signs for the “Centro visita del lupo, Azienda Pilota – Monte Corvo”
